Beverly "Suni"'s Story
Currently I am chasing my inner artist, devoting most of my time to creating art. After high school I continued to train horses here and later in Texas where we lived for 6 years. I gave up riding in my 30's after a fall left me with chronic back pain and ultimately back surgery.
In 1972 I married Ron Roveto and more than 4 decades later we continue to write our love story. We have two married sons and three grandchildren. Our family also includes two canine-kids, a black Labrador Retriever and a white Labradoodle.
In order to be a stay at home mom, I started and ran two businesses, one a mail order plant enterprise specializing in hybrid African Violets, the other as a sports photographer specializing in equine and soccer events/teams. My photography has been published (including a magazine cover) and has won numerous awards on a local and i...Expand for more
nternational level. I still love taking pictures for the sheer joy it gives me but no longer for money.
I spent many years coaching and referring soccer in between carting my boys all over the east coast to soccer tournaments. Both our boys won soccer scholarships to college so I consider it time and money well spent.
We live now in a 100 year old 3 story Victorian. It is a wonderful big place with charming woodwork and big windows but to afford such a big place, we had to compromise on "location-location-location" by buying in the rather rundown city of Torrington. I am blessed to be able to claim the entire second floor as studio space for my painting and photography.
About 1968 I acquired the nickname Suni (pronounced "sunny"). It is what most of my friends and family call me. So if you were wondering who Suni Roveto was.......now you know!
